The reefs at Marengo provide protection for a wide variety of microhabitats. Kelp and other seaweed grows densely, and there is an abundance of soft corals, sponges and other marine life. . The Marengo reefs are within the Marine Sanctuary known as Little Henty Reefs and are about 80 metres offshore from the beach. Two reefs are clearly visible at low tide and at high tide the tops are still visible.

Apollo Bay Old Cable Station Museum is housed in the Cable Station built in 1936 as the mainland terminal to the first undersea telephone link to Tasmania. The Museum is operated by the Apollo Bay and District Historical Society Inc.
